The girls had run into Tobli at the top of the stairs and smiled when he wished them luck, and proceeded to the outside. Shinra had hooked up a fifty-foot by fifty-foot tall sphere screen to broadcast the concert for the people in the back. As the girls stepped outside they could hear the fighting on the ground and sighed. Turning toward the others Tara smiled and nodded.

"On with the show!" she said and walked out into the center of the ship's deck with the others standing behind her. "Ready?"

"Let's do it!" Willow, Buffy and Faith shouted as they hit the power buttons for the microphones, and waited.

They watched as Tara's clothes changed into the outfit Lenne wore as she walked to the edge of the deck, and raised the microphone to her lips and began to speak softly. The men and women stopped fighting and listened to what she had to say.

"One thousand years ago, before the time of Sin... Spira was torn in two, divided by a terrible war. This was Spira's one great mistake. Because out of the rift left by this terrible conflict, Sin was born. Now, in only two short years, Spira has shaken off its unhappy past. We have moved on. And Spira grows brighter with each passing day. That light is our strength, and I don't want to see it fade. Do you? There are so many of us, each with different ideas and different beliefs. Of course we sometimes disagree, and arguments will happen. But our hearts can and should always be on." Tara said as a light began to surround her and she spoke with another soft voice overlapping hers. "Believe with me: Even if we're torn apart, our feelings will unite us. That is what this song is about."

I know that you're hiding things
Using gentle words to shelter me
Your words were like a dream
But dreams could never fool me
Not that easily

As she sang the first verse to the song the sphere screen lit up with a bright white light, showing Tsuki and Lenne at the front of the Zanarkand dome. The spectators watched as the image the once great city appeared all around the Thunder Plains, and passed through them.

I acted so distant then
Didn't say goodbye before you left
But I was listening
You'll fight your battles far from me
Far too easily

The scene changed from Zanarkand to the Bevelle under ground, where Tsuki stood in front of Vegnagun looking up at the giant machina. She shook her head and started climbing to the top.

"Save your tears cause I'll come back"
I could you that you whispered as you walked though that door
But still I swore
To hide the pain when I turn back the pages
Shouting might have been the answer
What if I'd cried my eyes out and begged you not to depart
But now I'm not afraid to say what's in my heart

Tsuki was now playing the giant organ built into Vegnagun's head. With each note she played a bar would light up with a different color. Her eyes widened and she turned to look down on the walkway.

The New Yevon and Youth League were glancing at one another, before they looked to the ground as tears burned their eyes.

Though a thousand words
Have never been spoken
They'll fly to you
Crossing over the time and distance holding you
Suspended on silver wings

And a thousand words
One thousand confessions
Will cradle you
Making all of the pain you feel seem far away
They'll hold you forever

Tara closed her eyes as a bright light surrounded her. Willow looked from the screen to Tara and gaped as she hit Faith and Buffy to get their attention. Turning both girls jaws hit the ground as they watched the light die down. Lenne had appeared and was standing back to back with Tara and began to sing along.

The dream isn't over yet
Though I often say I can't forget
I still relive that day
"You've been with me all the way"
I still hear you say

Lenne was standing in front of Vegnagun with her arms stretched out to the sides speaking to Tsuki as she look down from the top. Jumping down she landed in front of Lenne and embraced her; pulling back she took Lenne's hand and ran for the exit. Seven guards stepped out in front of them aiming their guns. Tsuki stopped and turned pulling Lenne with her, back toward Vegnagun's chamber.

She stopped in front of Vegnagun and turned toward Lenne with a sad smile. Leaning down she placed a gentle kiss on Lenne's lips and pulled back as the guards entered the room. Lenne grabbed Tsuki in a hug as the both looked at the guards.

Their bodies jerked as the bullets hit, Tsuki twisted and fell face down as blood pooled around her body. Lenne had fell on her back and slowly turned her head, only to find Tsuki had died instantly. A tear fell to the floor as Lenne closed her eyes taking one last breath before she, too, died.

Oh a thousand words call out through the ages
They'll fly to you
Even though we can't see I know they're reaching you
Suspended on silver wings

Lenne disappeared as Tara fell to her knees crying. Willow, Buffy, and Faith ran over to her, and were as surprised as the spectators. The thunder and lightning stopped as the clouds cleared, and the sun shined down on everyone. Willow gently picked Tara up and carried her into the ship and back to their room.

"Baby?" Willow asked worriedly as she wrapped her arms around Tara's shaking frame.

"I'm all right..." Tara sobbed quietly. "Really I'm fine now. It's passed." She said wiping the tears from her eyes.

"What did Shinra say?" Faith asked when Buffy walked into the room.

Buffy sighed and sat down beside Faith. "He said it might be some kind of interference with the sphere waves. The sphere Tara has on her and the sphere screen reacted with each other and... The consciousness burned into the sphere was projected onto the screen!"

"Yes, but that still doesn't explain why it happened." Willow said rubbing circles on Tara's back.

"When I asked about that, he said, ‘I'm only a kid.'"

"It's Lenne." Tara said looking at the floor. "I was singing her feelings. As I sang I could feel them welling up inside until they just... burst."

"Okay. So, the two women on the screen were Lenne and Tsuki?" Faith asked confused.

Tara nodded as Dawn stepped into the room. "Someone wants to talk to you."

Nodding Tara stood and followed with Willow at her side, and Buffy and Faith behind her. Willow let out a sigh of relief when she saw Maechen standing in the middle of the bridge smiling at them.

"T'was a magnificent melody, Lady Tara. The onlookers were all quite enchanted." Maechen said and shook Tara's hand for a second time.

"If it brings the people of Spira together-even just a little-then I'm glad."

"Indeed, I believe it shall. As you sang, not a soul could help be realize the folly of their tiresome squabbling. The fists once raised in anger became welcoming hands offering solace to a tearful neighbor. I must admit that I, too, shed my share of tear the moment Lenne appeared."

"You know Lenne?" Buffy asked surprised.

"Of course. Would you like to hear..."

"Yes! Please tell us!" Tara said cutting him off.

"About a thousand years ago, Lenne was a popular songstress in Zanarkand. The talk of the town, you might say. In a more peaceful age, she might have lived out her years as a performer. But the times-and her talents-did not allow such a thing to be. You see, Lenne's gift for singing was matched by her genius in the Summoner's arts. When the Machina Was began, all Summoners were sent to the front lines. Zanarkand was hopelessly outnumbered, and Lenne knew she would not return home alive. Nonetheless, she was prepared to lay down her life to protect her people. Yet there was one person who refused to let Lenne die. Yes, she would do anything to save her. She was...a young woman, Lenne's lover."

"Tsuki?" Faith asked quietly.

"I...don't know. Her name was lost so long ago. But whatever her name, the youth endeavored to steal the enemy's machina weapon and save Lenne. However..."

"It didn't go well." Tara hung her head as Willow wrapped her arms around her waist.

"The lovers met a truly tragic end. Those images we all witnessed are most certainly a record of their last moments. I am sorry but I must be going... but I have a request. Would you please meet me at the Zanarkand ruins later?"

"Yes, but why?" Tara asked confused as she leaned into Willow.

Maechen sighed. "I will explain then." He said and walked out the bridge door.

"So Tsuki was Lenne's lover." Faith said and sat down.

"And that means that the weapon that she tried to steal to save her must have been..." Buffy trailed off and looked into Willow's eyes as she remembered what they had went through.

"Vegnagun, right?" Tara asked not noticing what was passing between Buffy and Willow.

"I think we can kinda understand how she felt, right Will? Trying so hard to save someone." Buffy said as she looked to the floor with a sigh. "Two years ago, me and Will, we were the same. Trying to find a way... any way to save you."

Tara stepped out of Willow's arms and pulled her and Buffy into a hug. "And that was enough. Just knowing you both were there, by my side... I'll always be grateful to you both." She said and kissed Buffy's cheek, before gently kissing Willow's lips.

"You know, maybe Lenne felt the same way." Faith stood up "The woman she loved, she struggled to save her. She fought till her very last breath for her. I think that Lenne's final words might have been happy ones: ‘I love you.'"

Tara nodded. "There is a connection... but wait. Everything is all wrong! She never heard. The one person she wanted to tell... and she never heard her words." She said as the alarm went off and Mizu sighed.

"Leblanc wants to see Tara. I'll have them wait in the engine room." Mizu said and relayed the message.

"I still don't trust her... or Logos, he murdered a man in cold blood!" Willow said as the girls stepped on to the elevator.

"Just stay calm. Don't let him know you know, and leave it at that." Faith said keeping her spear close to her body.

"I've been hunting around since we last met," Leblanc said as the girls entered the room. "and I happened to find a rather peculiar sphere. It shows my Noojie-Woojie! And for some reason, that chump Baralai is there, too. But isn't from some years ago. I'm afraid it's not much help now, loves." She handed Tara the sphere as Buffy eyed it and began to think. "So, how about you? Have you tracked down my Noojie yet?"

"I saw him and Gippal on the Farplane." Tara said handing the sphere to Buffy.

"The Farplane!? What's he doing in a place like that!?"

"I think they are searching for Baralai and Vegnagun."

"I should have known that Baralai was the one controlling Vegnagun!"

"No, no. That's not it...how do I explain..."

"Forget about that! I don't have the time for this! Boys, we're going to the Farplane!"

"Anything but that, boss!" Ormi whined.

Logos shook his head and looked down. "We're no match for that sort of an opponent!"

"Don't be silly! The power of love conquers all! It's decided; we're going to save Spira! Tara, you and your troupe meet us there!" Leblanc said and ran out of the room with Ormi and Logos following.

"Just who the hell does she think she is? Giving orders like that!" Willow growled as the engine room door shut.

"We can't run down there yet... we have to talk to Maechen before we go." Faith said curious as to what the man wanted.

"And we have all the spheres to get inside that room Nooj wanted the spheres to." Buffy said holding up the sphere Leblanc gave them.

"Okay, let's go talk to Maechen, and then go to Mushroom Rock Road." Tara said not seeing Willow shiver at the mention of the sealed cave.
